BDA News & Insights

As you may know, during a company trip in May 2011, longtime BDA employee Susan Brockert was taken from us—a victim of domestic violence. On behalf of her Bensussen Deutsch & Associates family, BDA co-founder and CEO Jay Deutsch made a promise to Susan's daughter, Maddy, that her mother's death wouldn't be in vain.

Shortly after, Jay was presented with an opportunity to bring to light the prevalence of domestic violence on a national scale. And share Susan's story. He spent six days living in a low-income Phoenix, Ariz., neighborhood as a volunteer with three local charities. At the end of the week, Jay revealed he was there as part of the ABC television program “Secret Millionaire” and presented each charity a check.

Jay's episode of “Secret Millionaire” is scheduled to air Sunday, Aug. 11 at 8pm | 7pm CST.

Jay and the BDA Cares Foundation have formed a particularly strong connection to one of the organizations—the National Advocacy & Training Network, which strives for the prevention of domestic violence and abuse. As a result of Jay's participation on the show, NATN opened the first Susan’s House, where residents benefit from job training, support groups, legal advocacy counseling, financial management and other services that promote long-term self-sufficiency.

We invite you to tune in and share Jay's experience.
